Bluegrass Vineyard is a veteran-owned small business near Bowling Green, Kentucky. The vineyard and winery are located off I-65, approximately one mile south of the Smiths Grove exit 38. Our business hours are Monday - Saturday, 10am until 6pm. We offer an indoor winery with a capacity of 50 people, a 3-room bed and breakfast, as well as an on-site vineyard overlooking rolling hills atop the limestone rocks of Mammoth Cave. The vineyard and winery are available for private events, and we love to host birthday parties and vow renewal ceremonies! We always offer discounts to military members, first responders, and for birthdays, just let us know when purchasing.
We hope you will come by to see the vines, sample the wines, and to sign up for our Harvest Days. Those who help us with the grapes will receive a free lunch, free t-shirt, and a certificate that says "I Stomped Grapes at Bluegrass Vineyard" and you can put your purple footprints on it and take it home with you!
The average grape vine will produce about 1.5 bottles of wine, so if a winery has thousands of grape vines you know they legitimately produce their own fruit instead of trucking in their juice. At Bluegrass Vineyard we have more than 2,000 grape vines and expect to plant about 200 more each year. It is more challenging to grow our own fruits but it is worth the effort since we know exactly what is (and is not) in our grape juice. The red varieties we currently offer include Cabernet Franc, Chambourcin, Villard Noir, Norton and Noiret. We also offer several white varieties such as Traminette, Vidal Blanc, Chardonel, Melody and Vignoles.
In addition to wine grapes we grow approximately 45 cherry trees, 150 black raspberry bushes, 22 blackberry plants, 100 golden raspberry bushes, and some Crimson Red rhubarb plants which are used in our wines. We invite you to read about our wines and provide feedback on particular wines you would like to see in the future!
